Wrongful death claim might follow fatal motorcycle accident

Losing a loved one in an accident is understandably traumatic for the surviving family members. This is the fate of a family in California after a recent fatal motorcycle accident. Although no money could ever replace a life, a successful wrongful death lawsuit can ease the financial hardship that may follow.

According to a preliminary crash report, the California Highway Patrol responded to a call about a motorcycle accident shortly before 7 a.m. on a recent Tuesday. Reportedly, a 44-year-old man was eastbound on a motorcycle when he crashed into an SUV. The motorcyclist was ejected upon impact with the right side of the vehicle.

The CHP report indicates that the 25-year-old driver of the SUV was heading north and intended to make a left turn into a business parking. They report that the SUV driver failed to yield for the approaching biker. He made the turn, putting his vehicle in the southbound traffic lanes directly in the motorcyclist’s path.

Authorities reported that the SUV driver was not injured, and alcohol or drug impairment is not suspected. The motorcyclist was rushed to a medical center by ambulance, but he succumbed to his injuries. CHP confirmed that the biker wore a helmet and other safety gear.

California families who have lost loved ones in similar circumstances might have grounds to pursue wrongful death claims. With the support and guidance of an experienced Long Beach attorney, they could obtain financial relief. Monetary judgments in such cases typically cover final medical bills if the victim did not die at the crash scene. Additionally, end-of-life costs will be covered, and loss of income that the deceased would have earned.
