Fiery California crash results in 2 deaths

Two men were killed in a fiery car collision in California. The crash occurred on a Tuesday night. Just one vehicle was involved in the fatal crash.

How the wreck occurred

The recent California crash took place at around 10:30 p.m. along Dougherty Road. Police said when firefighters arrived at the crash scene, they found a car on fire. Authorities said they believed excessive speed contributed to the accident.

A man, 25, was reportedly driving the car at the time of the accident. He died in the crash, as did his passenger. The area where the accident occurred was shut down following the police investigation.

Legal recourse available following the crash

The police will likely document through their investigation that the California accident happened due to the driver’s negligence. For instance, the driver might have been driving too quickly for road conditions or texting and driving at the time of the crash. In this situation, the surviving loved ones of the passenger may opt to file a wrongful death claim against the deceased driver’s estate as well as anyone else with an ownership interest in the car involved in the crash. A successful lawsuit would likely result in a monetary judgment to cover losses stemming from the accident, including funeral costs. No amount of money can undo the events that caused the fatal motor vehicle collision, but financial damages may help the family members of the deceased car passenger to experience a sense of justice and move forward from the tragedy.
